A very competitive Game
It is worthy of a story, but I am storied out. It has 7 active civs.
1) Traditional team civ
2) Military guild/civbuck civ
3) Gold guild civ
4) Predator civbuck civ
5) Homeland civs
6) A self proclaimed 'expert' civ
7) A griefer civ (me)
The military guild went gladiator day 1 and declared on all civs within 4 hours.
The griefer civ declaed on all small civs day 1
The expert civ recruited folks to come play with 1000 fame players.
The military guild waged a battle against 3 large civs (predator, 'expert', I quit) concurrently. I was trying to coordinate defenses in effort to bleed them. Ultimate plan was to defend smal civ, defeat the military guild and steal all wonders accumulated... would have worked too...
The military guild issued secret weapon and one civ quit while the other 2 retreated before I could do much more than take a few pot shots.
The military guild talked trash for at least an hour until they attacked one of the homeland civs and the traditional team. I defended the homeland civ while the traditional team defended themself. The trash talk changed from trash talking to defending trash talking for the next hour.
I have farmed the military guild 4 times for eras now (unlike the Tycoon, they are slow learners) but am getting pushed out of the top 10 by the traditional team and one player on the Gold guild (going to have to try that).
Some civs are farming the 'expert' civ now and the eras are flying by. I am not sure that the tech guild will beat the Gold Guild player at this point.
The market is so tight, it is almost worth working merchants. (180, 300, 115, 100). It is so liquid, almost any shif in price by more than 2 clicks is almost immediately countered.
I am losing, but it is fun to watch... and spanking the trash talkers on a daily basis has won me a cheering section.
LOL dude I was the one who created the game, all my guild was in a another game I thought :P so I thought what the hell lets see if I can take on the world if I civbuck up :P It was a fun day of battles for me, I didn't go into them expecting to win all, then when a bunch of players came thought hmmmm maybe, then when we got overrun with ppl it became manageable :P
The farmed wins I didn't know I would sleep so long so I felt bad about those battles my team was choked :P I have the flu tho
its been a fun game enjoyed it
Hi from the cheering section
Had a feeling that might be you, ShuShu, I can't say I'm surprised to see this story here.
the weather goddess
every time I see arbitrage happening I think it might be him...
What game number is this?
3 person gold civ just blew through the last 4 eras, game over now. Never seen anything like it, I applaud them.
I think we were in the same game. Was that the one where they finished with 6 million? If so, I saw that. Crazy stuff.
Yep, that's the one. I'd like to try that tactic sometime.

Thought I saw 4. They were going through the wonder events so fast it was hard to tell.
yesterday i'm just suggesting the Civs that i'm in to change ways into Gold guild (since there are a bloat civs that always invading others to tribute wonders), & it starting to work.
It's fun, we dont need armies (Armies only used for the Barbarians), any invasion from other civs we just let it in, they dont take away our Gold anyway, we dont need too much wonders (only that increase Gold) , and if its been taken away by invading nation, we just grab it back (its cheap, we're rich .. ) , Golden Age 25% actually mean a lot when the number is huge.
quite easy to play, but the member need a bit skills in trading. i will try this again for sure
Thanks for creating the game matt. I was fun to play in a game that pulled the top talent out there. Shame you slept through the battles, I would have enjoyed eating your troops too... hehehe. I would still suggest you put a leash on a couple of your dogs though.
The gold guild strategy is really hard to beat. I was trying to steal their gold guilds. I needed that last battle against the self proclaimed expert civ to beat Matt . I kept placing the GP's in the wonder event, but they kept getting the golden age.
The only counter is to spot a gold guild early and counter it with a larger civ. Every guild needs to be able to counter it. Small guilds should be able to because they can buy cheap event wonders, large guilds have more of a challenge, but they have more people to offset. I think one member in the guild dedicated to spamming golden ages to maximum effect is probably sufficient.
Next time I spot a gold guild, I plan on knocking on a different guild's dorr and volunterr for the job.
I was counting on the gold guild to strip eras from the game so my inability to get gunpowder would not be a handicap. I was actually right, but miscalculated how many eras the guild was going to suck out of the game :O.
Ive made maybe 3 so far and they have been WAY better than other games IMO
First 5 I stayed up for! :P Honestly if I didn't have a cold incoming at the time I would have just re caffeinated!
Yes I was just talking this with my guild! Thats the only way I could think of to counter :P a 5 person team if each person is organized (making sure everyone can get max benifits of GA) they will most likely out do them, the trouble is the organization!
This is becoming REALLY cool, there is no1 strategy, there have been some that worked for awhile only to be countered and others to be discovered :P
Im getting over my cold now, I know there should be a guild game in the makings soon tho
Next one I make Ill be sure to post here!
That second rolling in of the fog was going to be fun to watch. I was just getting ready to take some extra bites when Mars stormed in with 200 spearmen and ruined the show.
