Science Victory Too Early?
Hi everyone, just wondered what your opinions are on the following thought. I don't think you currently need enough techs for a science victory. You can win it without nuclear techs for example, whereas civ 4 required you to have them for the engine. I just don't understand why you would go to the trouble of getting the other late game techs such as the one giving you giant death robots when for pretty much the same cost in research you could unlock all the spaceship parts, which don't take all that long to build. I just think that a science victory should need more science to complete!
I'd like to see you need a few more techs to get this victory, perhaps the nuclear ones unlocking the engine for example. What do you guys think?
For info I play on emperor and usually win, so I'm assuming this issue hasn't come from being a noob!
What map size, map type, civ, any other standard settings etc.? While science can be easy sometimes for some combinations, it often comes down to can you get it done before the AI does it or AI finishes some other victory type or AI attacks you to stop your progress. No so easy with the wrong map, wrong civ and bad luck of the draw on resources. Try random everyting or a less science oriented civ and see what happens.

Standard map size, standard no. of players, random civ, random settings (climate, rainfall etc). I wasn't complaining that I was winning, just thought that you don't need enough techs to unlock all of the parts. I agree that on duel it wouldn't be the expected victory of course
