Civ5 performance with current batch of IPS monitors?
Seems like the recent batch of 23-inch IPS panel monitors in my $200-$250 USF price range have response rates in the 8ms to 14ms range. Anybody playing Civ5 with these --- and if so what is Civ5 experience is like? Ghosting? Sluggish? Blockish? Amazing? Wonderful? etc.
Right now I've been playing on a 23" TN-panel with 2ms response time and the screen looks gorgeous. No ghosting. No lag. Also have a NVidia GTX 550i for the video card.
So why change, right? Well, was planning on picking up an IPS for movies to avoid family squabbles about angling of the monitor, but still want a top notch Civ5 experience too. I spend most of my time in Civ5 or IDEs, but the family does a lot of Netflix, Youtube, etc.
As for monitor examples, was thinking perhaps the LG IPS235V. Here's a link:

Don't have an IPS panel but practically speaking, don't think there is much practical or discernable difference between 2 - 5 ms g to g and and 8 -14 ms. If you google your question, there are online threads at Overclockers and elsewhere suggesting its more about input lag rather than g to g response time so TN or IPS can be good or bad for that parameter. Newer IPS panels are supposed to be quite good for gaming and perhaps being more accurate, could actually be better at giving eye candy than a TN, even if a tad slower on this one spec (which maybe is only marketing anyway). For Civ V its not a quick FPS or RTS game so speed is perhaps not even a consideration.
@Oblio. Thanks for responding. I've done quite a bit of Googling, but most items I've come across are for higher-end monitors which are unfortunately outside my budget.

Long story short, I couldn't find a 23" IPS with 5ms response time in the $200 USD or less range. I upped my budget and just ordered a Dell u2312hm from New Egg after they dropped their price again.
The good OCer folks at Hard Forum seem to universally lavish praise on the Dell u2312hm and u2412m IPS monitors. I'm normally not a Dell dude, but decided to deviate due to the enormous amount of positive reviews and testimonials (in their class). The 24" u2412m 1920x1200 resoution is appealing, but unfortunately costs $90-$100 more than the 23" 1920x1080 u2312hm.
I'll reply to this thread with my u2312hm Civ5 experience in a couple weeks after I receive the new monitor and play a game or two.
Thursday I received the Dell u2312hm from New Egg, hooked it up that night and couldn't be happier. Blacks are indeed black and I've noticed absolutely no ghosting whatsoever.
