Ideas To Customize Your Squad Armor
If you preorder the game you'll get access to a game feature (Elite Soldier Pack) that allows you to choose the color of the armor sets your soldiers use. Here's a few color ideas to try out
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Squad - squad all green
Hello Kitty Squad - baby blue and pink colors
The Smurfs - white and light blue (red for Papa Smurf)
The X-Men - Dark Blue
The Avengers - Green for Hulk, Yellow/Red for Ironman, Black for Natasha, Blue/White/Red for Captain America, etc.
I just hope the elite soldier pack includes spandex.
-Dark Green, White, blue and Yellow for power armor.
-Black, or light green for original series.
The obvious for rookies with bad accuracy (assuming the troops have varying initial stats and they don't change strictly based on class/levelling)
All white armour with black trim - stormtroopers
Actually last time I played Apocalypse I found it quite helpful to be able to distinguish an agent's role (sniper, scout, etc.) by the color of its armor so when I got personal shields I started combining the 3 different armors to easily recognize their roles by looking.
On Apoc that really helped since you can end up controlling entire platoons of 30 agents - here it will be more easy to know what their role is.
HA! Nice one!

Bah! No Ultrasmurf crud here.
Red, White and Black
-Bloody Magpi- I mean, Blood Ravens. Because you are going to be engaging in some ritual arms exchanges with the aliens...
Olive, blue and brown
-Clan Wolf Alpha Galaxy. Because we want to take much Isorla from the aliens-as befits a good Warden, quiaff?
I could go gray and black like most popular renditions of the Mobile Infantry.
If you're going for the God-Emperor, at least give them a proper chapter like the Imperial Fists or Salamanders, not the smurfs whose list of achievements include dooming the galaxy by releasing a C'tan (retconned as Matt Ward saw this as a defeat), get eaten by nids despite overwhelming support, get defeated by the Tau despite overwhelming support, get tricked during the Horus Heresy and do nothing worthwhile.
On-topic: depending on how extensive it is, I'm going for an urban camo look, dark gray/light black and dark blue/gray camo pattern, preferably with helmets.
Your nerd is really showing. I'm not that big of a 40K fan. Actually, I just got into it, but only the video games which amounts to Space Marine so... yeah... don't really care what you think. :P

Hey, it's a great universe full of lore, you should read up on it someday, plenty of grimdark, unique factions (go for the Orks, invade worlds for the lulz), no good and evil generalizations.
I used to roleplay the first X-COM as an Imperial colony world with X-COM being the PDF (Planetary Defense Force) with imposed rules such as anyone who flees is executed by the squad's Commissar, las-weapons, plasma pistols & rifles and autocannons only, no retreats, all battles to the death.
Full squads, casualties in the hundreds on the top difficulty, but it was worth it for the narrative when I researched the power armour, I had 10 "Space marines" tops in my unit.
Black, everything shall be black.
I never take 40K too seriously, half the fun is in the dystopian melodrama that it has, but it's comfortable with it. It knows it borders on absurd and likes it. I think orks are pretty chaotic evil though, and the demons in space could be seen as pretty evil.

Also, I'd probably do the navy-blue and white of SHIELD agents, classic.
Aff, although I'd go more with the Hell's Horses schemes. Seyla!

Just in case there was any seriousness left in XCOM.
Be thankful I almost did Captain Planet, but like always trying to figure out how to implement Heart screwed everything up. :\
I'll was literally gonna color coordinate my teams armors so I didn't have to put name tags on the end of their names to figure out who is better at what but with a limited scope for squad members (until someone mods the heck out of the game to try to get it closer to original xcom levels) I'm just going for set colors for set ranks.
Commander: Random Color (Why? Because if they last this long they deserve to feel special until they die...)
Squaddie: Bisque (Light Tan Color)
Rookie: Pearl White
White/grey, black, Olive
-Hazardous Enviroment Combat Unit
Light Green, Olive, Red
Depends on what's available. If it isn't a pain to change things for each unit, then...assuming color doesn't cover the whole squad period...black and gray, like Urban Fatigues for the most part. Black for Snipers, something special for Hvy Specialists (skull armor or whatever), White'ish for Support (Medic!). Then again, its really relative for me. I say one thing, get my hands on a game, and that's either the way it is, or drastic changes happen without any hesitation. Very whimsical like. = P

"January 21st, 2015. Squaddie Geraldo Luna's cape blows into his face while aiming his Rocket Launcher. February 3rd, Sargent Sumie Chung gets cape sucked into Skyranger Jet Engine. March 12th, Rookie Sam Johnson hung himself when his cape tangled with his Grapple Armour. NO CAPES!"
gold/red - iron man - once flying suits are available
LOL!! Great paraphrasing! (and that was an AWESOME movie)
