Playing against Alex the other day, I realised something. There was no way to win over a city state unless you're about 10x more wealthy than Alex or if you conquer him. So I had an idea; When you take a city state, you can install a puppet government. this would set influence to 150 and give no influence decay for a number of turns, depending on game speed. Alternatively, you could demand that they stop being someone's ally and force them to isolate the other civ for a number of turns (Idea came from Hannibal winning over Rome's allies).
Alexander is the most annoying leader in civilizatino V, I hate it so much!
I scratch my head every time I see him, he is always hostile towards me.
You don't have to be 10x more welthy then he to win against him in CS bribing, because AI is not smart enough to kick your CS aliance with their gold, Alexander will just acumulate gold to anormus amounts but it will not use that gold because as I said he is stupid mf.
So all you need is about 1/3 of gold that he has to recover such actions.
I tested that 1000 times and it works just fine(how sad day for the Civ V game )
Once I can't catch him with the economy I just build an army and take the greek capitol and that's it you win the game practicaly ( another sad day for the game )
most annoying thing when you conquer greek capital?
there are no building inside, that damn alexander will sell them all!! so all you got is an empty citiy with lots of citizens
As soon as I meet Alexander I start building my military. If you can get him down before he gets his Companion Cav you should be fine.
