Taking cities in later stages
I love the game but am having a problem in the later stages, when I try to take a city.
I keep getting to the stage where I can only win through a peaceful route as once a defending city get's modern infantry as a defensive force, I can't seem to break them. This shouldn't be a problem as I still win but I would like a domination win.
I have tried sending armies of bombers or tanks and complementing them by a nearby battleship but I generally still can't break down the defenses and of course, evry time I lose, they get stronger. Of course, spies can help but the odds seem severely stacked against me.
With the exception of the only ICBM (I want more than one!!!!) Does anyone have any ideas?
Massive Tank armies (most preferably elites) plus spies = win.

You need more than one army. Remember that if the first one inflicts damage, the defender will be weaker when the next one attacks (until the defender heals). This is harder against the aztecs, though.
So massive amounts of tanks = several armies.
Naval support is good too, and if tanks are too weak for you, go with bombers and artillery (these need defenders, though, infantry/fighters).
Thanks for the advice all,
All done on Emperor now, next for the final level.
go for Bombers. If you have 4-5 bomber armies with at least veteran status and hopefully some upgrade too, you will take the cities.
Also don't support with 1 Battleship, support with a Fleet of Battleships, or use Artillery instead of tanks.
