    Mafia 3

If Mafia 2 proves to be a successful product for 2K Czech, there will likely be a third entry in the ongoing series: Mafia 3.

As there was a seven to eight year gap between Mafia 1 (published in 2002) and Mafia 2 (published in 2010), it is likely that Mafia 3 would be published circa 2015 or 2016.

In terms of era, Mafia 1 was in the 1920s/1930s and Mafia 2 is in the 1940s/1950s. Perhaps Mafia 3 would be set during the 1970s/1980s? Would the setting be Miami or Las Vegas?

I imagine 2K Czech might draw inspiration from The Godfather 2 and Casino; thus, if Mafia 3 is ever made, it would be set in Las Vegas during the 1970s.

    Thoughts?

It might be early for us. I'm sure the guys at 2K are probably thinking about Mafia 3 already, as well as Bioshock 3 and others.
It's their business, and no good business goes unplanned.
Of course, you can't blow money away making things beforehand, but I'm pretty sure that the success of Mafia II will be the greenlight for the production start of Mafia III.

Personally I wouldn't want a Mafia 3 in 1970's 1980's. This period is already too well covered by GTAs. I could enjoy 1960's /1970's, but to be honest, if they'll cover complete 50's in the Mafia II, I'll be satisfied for life

They don't need to go in chronological order. It might be interesting if they go back to the earlier eras. The 20's, play in Don Pepone's mob, or maybe Sicily, maybe before or after the war.

that would be better than going forward, as much as they want to avoid comparisons with GTA any sort of leap into "modern times" would just mean more dodgy reviews

    RROOAAARRRS in agreement

It would make sense if there will ever be one, besides they might be a bit fed up with mobsters, at least in the way that they would want to do another project before spending another number of years in the mafia world.

H&D 3 with todays technology would be very nice and just like the last releases in the series what the WWII genre need in my opinion, and if it would ever be made I sure hope it would gain the honor it deserves as in giving credit to the other games in the series.

H&D2 suffered alot of hitting the streets around the same time as the more arcady COD.

Yes that would be great as well, after the sad case of UBISOFT not treating the R6 series very well in my opinion there is a need for a more realistic game in that department as well.

It would be much cooler, than the 60s, 70s
just because it's the ROOTS of the american mafia.
70s is not so pretty, not so romantic ......

Yeah. The first Scarface film from 1932 was brilliant. I loved it. That was based on Capone's Chicago outfit and the relationship with his wife in the 20's

I think that they should stick to the stuff they had success with ... so i will prefer them going back to 20s instead of moving ahead of 50s ....

If Mafia ever goes into modern times as long as they keep it MATURE and keep the Mafia feel then they should go for it. The Sopranos in my opinion did a perfect job with the modern mafia so if a game in the mafia series can do that il be frothing at the mouth.

Yeah I would not mind a more modern setting if there will ever be a Mafia III,
and of course, the Sopranos is great

That would be great if the next Mafia take place in Miami or Las Vegas during 60s - 70s.

I would rather they took a very long time to make a great game than start churning out substandard sequels to things, esp when it comes to Mafia.

has been nearly 5 yrs since the last Hidden & Dangerous, that has got to be next

There better be a Mafia III after this one. Mafia II is definitely going to make enough money to make a number III so why not.

you right, that because the previous consoles can't handle the game's technology at that time.
but now as martin confirm before, the present consoles have a great and unused potential. the team at czech will make it happen. so, mafia 2 will be same across all platform.

Mafia games are about older eras, that's giving them the essence. So the period 60-70's would be ideal. Of course with a total different story, which has no connecton to Mafia 2. I'd love to roll with 69 Mustang or Shelby. Maybe that time the protagonist can come home from Vietnam, then join the mafia
Will see it on PS4/Xbox 3. On PC you will need HexaCore cpu to run it with 256 GB Ram, and it will come on 2 bluray dvds.
The game will support mind-reading controllers as well, of course.

I pretty sure that its going to be a Mafia 3. 2Kgames have been using much time with this game and the engine, so I think it will be used in other games. 1960 was an interesting era. The music was fantastic and it is a perfect time to make a Mafia game

Well theoretically, since Mafia was 1930-40 (About) and Mafia II is going to be from 1945 to, for the sake of argument, about 1955. That means IF there's a Mafia III (and I think there will be) It would likeley be about 1960 to 1970.

I think an accurate representation of the 1960's would be welcome, not like a certain game *cough* Godfather II *cough* that claims to be set in 1960, only to have cars from 1967 - Mafia II seems to be more innacurate than the origninal (Only one off car) but it doesn't have any cars from 1962!

    Haha... I hope not.

For my taste, the 1980s and 1990s are culturally uninteresting and I believe the GTA series has adequately canvassed those eras with games such as Vice City, etc. I think the Mafia series should not go past the 1970s. In my personal opinion, the American mafia went downhill after Vito Genovese died in 1969.

would much prefer a modern game, is huge potential for fact based missions from Falklands, 1st Gulf War etc, as much as I like WW2 setting I do think the series needs to change, WW2 has been done to death.
