What consols will Civ5 be available for?
I liked the new idea for CivRev expanding to the 360 and ps3. I may appeal to many people when i say this: my pc sucks. I have an Xbox 360 pro, which will run games a lot faster than the computer, and the availabilty to play what is assumed to be my new favorite game on a fast running system will be great. My pc can barely handle civ4, but thats with minimal graphics and major lag (varying on map size and present civs). I think it will draw a bigger online crowd if available to ps3 and 360 too.
If there already is news of what systems it will be released for, please tell me.
Personally I feel that the Civilization (1,2,3,4,5) games should be PC only. They can port it to the xbox/ps3/wii later if they so desire, but building a game trying to keep the limited controls of an xbox in mind WILL gimp the overall experience of the game. I didn't like civrev much, but i love civilization 4. I just hope they dont dumb down civ for the PC by trying to get a bigger market. I believe Sid Meier will pull through with a quality product.
If they want to release civrev and such on consoles go for it, but it should be a standalone.
Also Civ has never been particularly taxing on computers, so there's that.
I agree, Civ 5 for PC, Revolutions 2 shortly after for consoles.
Civ 5 is PC only. And hopefully it stays that way. I'm tired of PC games being dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.
Yeah the Civ 360 was ****, same goes for DS spin off. Civ Iv's about the detail and the strat, not how much water you can add to the coke that is Civ.

I don't really play games from my PC these days (and I doubt my 3 year old laptop could handle civ 5 anyway), but I'd still like a full, proper civ game.
Comfort is not a problem for PC games, if you just buy the right kind of computer. I play all my PC games in my sofa. Laptops that can run Civ games arent expensive (I could run Civ4 on my previous laptop, which was more than three years old), and they can be connected to modern tvīs without any real hassle if that's what you want.

Civ Revolutions was designed for the console, Civ 5 is designed for the PC. It must stay this way because if it is also designed for the console crowd, they will expect a much more different experience than what they will get. This will result in the PC guys wanting the game one way and the console crowd wanting the game another way.
Although I never played Revolutions, all my friends who play consoles love it because it is quick and fun. Civ 5 cannot be quick and fun. I want an in depth strategy game that requires a substantial amount of time to complete.
As a long, long time Civ and Sid Meier fan (I believe I own at least one copy of every one of his games), I respectfully request that the game be designed and released for PC. After the PC release, they can crank out revolutions 2 for the console crowd. We waited 5 years for this sequel, I don't want the consolers to have any say in it.
To floating pants: Try upgrading or building your system. I just built a quad core system for my mom that could probably run the game at medium for $350. Throw in another $100 and it definetly could.
Me too, I want all the depth and complexity of Civ, except I use an xbox 360 for games rather than a PC.

A game like Civ should only ever be played on a PC. Consoles are for FPS's and racing games. PC Strategy Games Forever!
Firaxis has already officially announced that Civ5 is going to be PC only.
A game like Civilization can't and won't work on a console... you have it's little brother Revolution.
Actually the FPS games were born on the PC. Look at games like CS:S that will never go to console because it will degrade the tournament like experience that PC gamers are used to. Consoles are meant for Racing games and Third person shooters

Can we PLEASE get another Civ for 360???
Civ5 to console
I don't see any problems in making a console version of Civ5. It's just a matter of keeping the game the same (an in-depth strategy game), and find the best possible control scheme.
@Yachmenev: I still think playing games on a console is more comfortable. (how do you use a keyboard and a mouse from your sofa?)
@crashed97tsi: You make the difference between Console crowd and PC crowd... I'd like to think in CivRev crowd and Civ crowd, because I'm a Civ fan and I'd like to see Civ5 entering the console market for 'real' Civ fans.
The first Civ I owned was Civ2 on the Playstation1, and I loved it! Had no problems with the control scheme, and the game was - exept for the battle engine and the automation feature for units - exactly the same. They could make both CivRev2 and Civ5 for the console, and then make a distinction between CivRev and Civ fans without much trouble.
Upgrading your system is always a tedious task (especially if you're not an expert to boot); Consoles are more reliable in performance (not having compatibility issues or OS related problems), and they are always cheaper if gaming is your goal.
I would be exited to see Civ5 making a stance on the console market!
Well, I didnt get to play CR much but I kinda liked it, was considering getting this new one when came out however I would have to get for the ps3- you guys kinda killed me wanting to play it now.
