How to fix Bioshock 2's FOV

I'm sure if many of you know this but if you have played bioshock 2 on pc, you probably have noticed that they screwed up the FOV yet again for the PC copy. (happened in bioshock 1)

well don't worry all i have a fix for you

Open up my computer and go to C:drive/users/(your user name)/AppData/Roaming/Bioshock2

you will see a config file called User. Open with notepad and scoll down till you see [Default]. following [Default], you will see all of your key binds. you will have to pick a key bind that you are not using and put it

    SetFOV 90

Make sure no space is between the =
i chose to use my number pad 1 key. so for mine it looks like this
NumPad1=SetFOV 90 save the file and open up bioshock2.

once you are in game press the key you bound the command to and enjoy 90* FOV

    NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you will have to press the bound key after a cinematic. not sure about loading a new part of the game. i know quitting to the main menu then re-loading a game will cause you to revert back to default FOV.

here's a video i made with FRAPS that shows the difference

Note that the filename is User.ini if you have extensions turned on.

Also note that, for Windows XP users, the directory is:

    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAME\Application Data\Bioshock2

And the Application Data folder is a hidden folder.

I haven't fully decided yet, but I think I actually prefer 75, the default, instead of 90. It appears more natural. 90 seems a bit too stretched for me.

I suppose I'm probably in the minority.

Great post though clearly illustrating the difference! Thanks!

ah forgot about the file path in xp thanks

most games defaults don't bother me but for some reason. when playing bioshock 2 at default FOV, i felt like my eyes were not seeing the peripheral and i felt cased in so to speak. it bothered me big time.

I have yet to mess with the 90 FOV setting. im thinking about setting it to 100 or so and seeing how that feels

Don't forget to set it back to 90 (or whatever) after you die, as well as cinematics.

not at all. version of the game is 1.50019. still no fix for widescreen and antialiasing is not working

in Default.ini and in Bioshock2SP.ini there are lines "FovAngleDegrees=75.000000" and "UseSoftwareAntiAliasing=True" but it's not working in the game. Any ideas why?

Because ConfigINI.ibf overrides them. You'd need to extract the inis outta there and place them in proper folders and then remove the file. That, or edit it directly. Somehow. IDK how.

While we're still bringing this thread back from the dead, would this work for multiplayer?

ConfigINI.ibf also contains lines "FovAngleDegrees=75.000000" and "UseSoftwareAntiAliasing=True" so it seems to be correct but not working
