What next? Pay for each files separatly? HATE game in kit!!! it's just swindle!!!!
So I bought this game, and I don't agree with its EULA.
Now the store won't return my money because I opened the box.
I want my money back 2K!
I'm confused how it's "silly" to create a board account for the sole reason of complaining. Rather, I fail to see how it's any sillier than creating one for the sole reason of expressing your appreciation for a game, or for that matter, for any other "sole reason" you might be able to think of.
There has to be a first reason to make an account...in what way is complaining about feeling ripped off "silly?"
I said this a bit up thread, but clearly a lot of people aren't reading every post (not sure I blame them). One of the things that makes me angry about this is that I would VERY MUCH like to vote with my wallet. Yes, I can decide not to buy the "DLC," and I am already quite committed to that. Unfortunately, I can't take back buying the game in the first place. I feel like I've been deceived by 2K, and as a result do not want to have even a single dollar go to supporting this product, and likely in the future (depending on how this issue is dealt with) this company.
I can't sell it at a used game store because I live in Japan and bought my copy from a special US import store (8,000 yen for the regular version). Selling it on ebay would be ridiculous because nobody would buy my copy with the higher shipping charges. The best I can do is hope to find a friend to sell it to. Yes, I can vote with my wallet in the future, and I can vote with my wallet, to some extent, by simply not buying the so-called DLC, but the big issue for me is that I can't vote with my wallet in the precise fashion I usually employ, which is total boycott. The reason for this is pure and simple deceit.
I'm doing everything I can (which isn't a whole lot) by coming on here and complaining. A million rain drops makes a storm, after all.
Personally I couldn't care. I'd rather a hundred kb download rather than a few hundred megabytes eating up my rubbish internet allowance. So what if they already have it on the disc? If we got it with the game, already unlocked, then you'd all STILL be complaining, looking for DLC. You can't say that we got an incomplete game, bugs aside. If they have it already on disc, that's fine with me. I got an amazing sequel, with the added bonus of a great multiplayer. Anything else is simply extra! I don't see why people are getting so angry, its just a different form of distribution
In my opinion, all legal actions against this wouldn't hold. So what we can do - and what I will do - is to speak out as loud as we can and stop buying their products until they realize that customers are not stupid.
I say we make a song like that guy did when the united employees broke his guitars. And to be ironic we take out the middle 20 seconds, but include it with the song, then charge an extra $0.20 afterwords if they want to hear that 20 seconds xD

I bought the disc, I decided to support 2K by buying this game with my money, I could have bought a PS3 exclusive game and supported Sony directly which I love to do but I went for BioShock 2 since I love the whole game universe, and when they deliberately hold back a piece of the game, however big or small, then try to charge me for it and pass it of as something made after the game has released (which is what DLC is) then I'm sorry but they are being very deceitful and their practise has to change.
While the single player and multi-player on their own are fine (apart from the fact they obviously don't have a QA team at 2K Marin) out of the disc, I should be able to play all of it. This makes me wonder if they cut down the single player just so they could charge us for a longer story later on in time. Obviously, now they can't.
Again, DLC isn't necessarily made after the game. This has all likely been planned during the game creation process, so don't be fooled thinking that all companies make DLC afterwards. Therefore, you can't really say its deceitful. Liz has come on here and explained why it had been put on disc. Personally, I'd rather not be separated into "haves" and "have nots". Matchmaking would take much, much longer
As for single player, its going to add to the narrative. Nothing confirmed about it yet, but I'd 99.999999% imagine that we won't be playing as Delta, considering he is dead....
Therefore, this couldn't have fitted into single player. You're not going to be half-way through the game, do some random side mission as Tenenbaum or someone, and switch back to Delta. It HAS to be DLC, it wouldn't work otherwise. So, they're not holding the game back from you at all, in my opinion. Yeah, its on the disc, but its nothing to do with the main single player story. [Obviously it'll be related, but not DIRECTLY to Delta and his path]
Its no different than downloading the full content from Xbox Live...
I'd be quite angry myself if single player DLC was something like an extra level for Delta in the game, a level that fitted perfectly to the storyline, with extra audio diaries for Delta, and just something that SHOULD be there already, that's holding back. But this really isn't

I am doing all i can about this lets see
A: spoke out when the game released and we knew that was happening.
B: asked 2K games to take their game back and refund me because retailers don't honor PC returns here unless the disc is faulty... even if its the game that's faulty. (my complaint is both about the faulty state of multiplayer and the unlock code issue btw)
C: spoke out again when it may have been possible to catch a PR staffers eye.
D: contacted 2K's PR and support department.
Other than a silly threat of legal action i have no way to actually follow through with what else do you suggest?
Taking the pacifist sit back attitude to everything just lets them win, This is why a certain country surrenders every time they're threatened with war... they all just sit back and take it.
*before someone comes back and quotes this, the reference to surrendering is a reference to fiction (ie a book not rl) the country has been attacked twenty times in a hundred years and all the people surrender at the slightest threat of violence*

Two more, hope they all contact the PR people and give 2k something to think about. 2k can do viral marketing? Well, let's try if we can make our voices heard, too.

Please, stop the hate, I dont see why you all think this is 2Ks fault, sure they sold DLC that was already on the disc, but if it was up too them it would be free, 2Ks has no controal WHAT SO EVER of the price and distribution of the DLC.
Sony and Microsoft are the ones who price and distribute the DLC, and don't be giveing Microsoft or Sony **** for not making it free, it does cost money to put up the DLC and keep the servers running.
What do you guys think? severs just pay the bills and upgrade by themself?
I really thought that this was common knowledge.
I was wrong.
The press are worse for buying into it. They're all running the exact same article, almost word-for-word. They've nothing better to do than go leaching for gaming scandal, and you're as bad for e-mailing them all.
As for you, Mearl, threats aren't doing you any favours
P.S. If it wasn't clear, I HATE the press
This TRIPE is what I hate. Stupid journalists jumping on a story that they haven't a clue about. If I read this right, it means that they've screwed up multiple ways.
1. They release DLC that isn't DLC but just an unlock code for something you already have (but still have to pay for)
2. They do it this way because they are incapable of doing it otherwise
3. If they WOULD do it differently it would most probably split up the entire userbase between those that did buy the DLC and those that didn't.
Does that qualify as incompetence?
OF COURSE DLC SPLITS UP THE USERBASE, You idiot!
*irony* Not only that! The whole game would be free, because 2k is our best friend. They love us gamers, and that's the only reason why they produce and publish games! Why didn't we realize that before? The only reason why games, especially those published by 2k, cost money at all is because Microsoft and Sony are bad, bad companies. *irony off*
Time to stop dreaming and selling ideas like that as "common knowledge".
Feel free to stop reading this thread. I really don't want this thread to lose its focus.
We voice our opinions to try and change the business practices. If those opinions fall upon deaf ears we then take our business elsewhere.
Our problem is this "DLC" and 2K's decisions; it's not me and it's not the press. Again, remember why this thread was created, what was its purpose. I hope you understand.

Just because we're aware that 2kLiz's explanation is bs, doesn't mean the general public will notice. Games like Quake were allowing people with different content to play together 15 years ago. You just get a default character model instead of the custom one you haven't got.
This decision will have been made long ago, with the potential anger/bad feeling a necessary sacrifice to the profit they know they'll make. Imagine if 250,000 people buy this content. That's over a million bonus dollars in revenue, they'll take that over a bunch of hardcore complaining forumites any day.
Personally, I think it's desipcable and I wont buy another of their games. I'll buy Bioshock 3 pre-owned, for which 2k won't see a penny. But I'm under no illusions than my actions will be noticed, or I this wasn't a calculated gesture on their part. Our anger was calculated in their business model. Nothing will come of this.
