Naming of persephone
Now, I understand that rapture tries to be all glorious and luxurious, wich leads to the greek influence in the naming of a lot of things (the Adonis, etc) but Pesephone...
OPTIONAL:[For those who dont know what-who-Persephone supposedly was, she was the daughter of the god of nature. Hades, god of the 'underworld' took a liking to her, kidnapping her and bringing her to his cold realm. The god of nature (name escapes me) then sent the world into a continuos winter, and the people started to die. Zeus then sent Hermes word to hades that he had to return Persephone in order to save mankind. Hades however, asked that if Persephone wished, she could stay. Zeus agreed abd gave hades one last night with persephone. At that point he gave her a drink of wine, a special wine, making her belong to him) with that claim to her, the god of nature refused to bring back the warmth of the world. Zeus made the final agreement that hades should have her for 6 months out of the year (fall/winter) and she should return to the surface the rest of the year (spring/summer)]
Now, as such, I believe persephone [in-game] to be rather oddly named... A prison named after the greek explanation for the changing seasons? It would have been more appropriate to name it hades. If not just a wee bit cliched. Still. Persephone is a prison, not an underworld, it is the same year-round. And it aint a woman.
Maybe they should have just gone with the Gulag. It would have seemed a lot like MW2 that way, but it would be the most fitting name outside of the bland, 'Prison'.
I found it odd as well.
Dionysus, however? Perfect naming.
Well, it makes sense, as Persephone was a prisoner in the underworld- she was held there against her will. It's not the moral of the story that's the key, it's the specifics of the story itself.
Perhaps it's how Rapture was once Percephone before kidnap and now the grip of Hades has corrupted her which is what that prison is: A Complete Corruption of Andrew Ryan's ideals.
Just a shame that level was a bit of a rush would have been nice to see the comatose splicers without Lamby barking out commands and Eleanor giving Me a headache:
"*Dreamy Voice FATHER WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE"
"Why didn't you put My DNA in the Vita chamber next to your room with all your plasmid gifts?

Personally, I feel the naming of Persephone was on that end of it, specifically in relation to Sinclair (Hades) and Lamb (Persephone). Now, forgetting the "love" aspect of the myth, keep in mind that in the game Lamb gets imprisoned in Persephone, takes things over, kicks Sinclair out, leaves to take over Rapture and hten keeps her seat of power in Persephone.
Now, whilst its not a clean 1:1 match, there are definitely some parallels. I think that this was the reason for naming it what they did.
Also, Dionysus seems like a reference to Stanley's actions to me...
I believe (hades) was sofia. Eleanor was (persephone) and you were (hermes) rescuing her. and it also kind relates to since in the end you can choose to condemn hades (Sofia) or meet her half way kinda thing thats why she survived in the good ending.

Well, there you go, it fits better now. I forgot about the Hermes aspect of the story.

Hades kidnaps Persephone.
Because she is in the Underworld she can no longer cause Growth (In other words Spring/Summer) to happen (She is the Greek God of Growth)
Demeter (Her mother) could not find her, so in her fruitless efforts to locate her Daughter all life on Earth stopped. (There are two theories, she neglected the Earth, thus resulting in life to stop, or she forced the Earth, until her daughter returned, to stop.)
Zeus forced Hades to return Persephone, but the rules of Fate said that because Persephone had eaten the food of the Underworld (In this case 6 seed of a Pomergranate) she would be forced to come back to the Underworld 6 months for every year.
And it was because she left to return to the Underworld for 6 months every year that we get the Seasons.
EDIT: To get back on topic, maybe the prison is named after Persephone, because she was chosen to go to the Underworld (People who speak out against Ryan are chosen to go to Persephone) then she stayed there, and only got to leave under special conditions. (People who leave Persephone only leave because they are have Plasmids tested on them or become a Big Daddy)
