Does anybody know/want to create a patch/mod
- that removes the shining effect of interact with objects (pick up the phone, open certain door...)
- that adds an in-car free look camera? I´m currently using an in-car camera with fixed view
- that makes your engine more durable, but not undestroyable. I love car destructions, but am not able to enjoy them long enough
Guys, some of the changes done in the Roth mod are just sort of "temporary". I have university stuff now, so no update for at least next two months. But if you ask what I want to mod in - heck, EVERYTHING!
Limited inventory - can be done via LUA, either a bit ineffective way via cascade of "if" commands or maybe by usage of "InventoryCanAddWeapon" command if it does what I think it does. If this suceeds, maximal carried ammunition is getting buffed back to three extra clips for each weapon.
Ammo loss when reloading - can be done using one extra variable and checking currently used gun via InventoryGetSelected command (I get it should return item ID or weapon ID of item in hands) and subtracting corresponding amount of ammunition on reload (question is how to detect reloading).
Cold weapons - again, LUA stuff, I have some sort of plan (usage of "SetAnimStyle" command)
Putting items in a trunk - a bit tricky, but I think doable. If AIs can store itmes in a trunk (go watch citizens using parked cars, sometimes briefcase/purse wielding citizen wants to use a car, so she/he stores item in a trunk first, then proceeds to the driver's seat) then why not player? Just there has to be some sort of magical moving of all stored stuff to a new car when player switches cars. Illogical, but add to gameplay (would be annoying to carry all stuff one by one from one car to another).
anything else? Yeah, trains and subways...very vague idea, but it could work.

Also, I put some mods to MAFIA, and now all the text is away from it. I can't read anything, not even the main menu text (STORY, FREERIDE etc)
And I need to guess where is "YES" and "NO" if I go to freeride
is there a way we can remodel graphics and texture in mafia 2 now ?

Being an avid Mafia I modder I wanted to bring a little life to the freeride game that costas opened up so working off His work, and frankly others I made a little freeroam mod where the following occurs
Description: Henry is Capo and Gives you missions at Freddy’s Bar. 20 Missions total
Joe hangs around The Maltese Falcon during the day. He’ll ride with you.
Saves and day changes Saves at the Garages*
Saves when you go to sleep
Seasons Change when you go to sleep*
Weapons Recharge when you sleep
Joe and Henry are at their Homes at night
* Features originally in Gvozden’s freeride dlc
I made this one loaded with weapons, and cars and a semi-god mode where it is ALMOST impossible to die.
Its just my sad little attempt to redeem a game that could have been so much better
The second Mod I call Vito's Vendetta, it is a file swap that changes out Jimmy's skins and SOME voices for Vito's
The only known glitch is the very first mission (prison) where the character has a black head
Over all a real disppointing game to play and mod, but I tried

So I was going through the mafia 2 script folder and found loads of files named...
Their were loads more,Mabye these were the deleted free ride missions(fr),I extracted them and some of the stuff looks like it could be "Activated" again.Would it be possible?

if you use the sds tools you can see whats in the car sds files, i just don't know witch file dictates the car's handling.

and btw...i didn't use any mods. But can someone point out or are there a must mods to be installed ? I tryed just the texture mod and i don't like it. Im a fan of realistic stuff, so if any mods that are really better but still serious like in the game (clothes for example) i would glady pick them up. I did look true 159 mods or so on informer but didn't really like them so much to dl.
there are few decent mods, mainly cars handling mods and those who manage to make them won't share the info on how? i've looked and looked and looked and looked some more for ini, cfg, and strings of data for car handling and it's like it's non exsistant.
^ What ? Why do you need handling mods ? Mafia 2 handled handling of the cars in the game better then many racing focused games out there!
The pleasure of driving a car, both in normal and in simulaton mod. How they intreact with the surface, feel heavy, and change based on weather. Its just amazing.
They say there is a lot of driving. Yes...but for me it's not a flaw to the game. I simly enjoyed driving in Mafia 2 along with great music from the 50s...a big plus in my book how they did that feature of the game.
i well i have driven all the cars so hard so long the wheels fell off. now i want change the handling and make them faster for fun. I also wanna make it so you can take the cop cars to the shop so you can put on a super charger.
I've been modding GTA since GTA 3. Here is one mod i did in GTA 4, it's a lot of fun.
just saw those todya along with "Rick's tool" hopefully i can actually tweak the code.scripting of the game and do some cool stuff with cars. what i'd really like to see is an under ground tunnel with no AI that is really really really long so you can do top speed tests with all the cars.
Hi there. Can you remember Denby's talk in 2009? Back then, he claimed that items in surroundings can be used as close combat weapons and that it is a great feature to have.
