I am shocked at 2K for removing the pad support, what were they thinking? The first Bioshock was a joy to play on the pad so why remove it. Allot of pc gamers now use their HDTV's in their lounge to game on and require pad support. Also half of the keys to operate common functions are on the other side of the keyboard. This is a real let down as I loved the first Bioshock.

I know of a few people who are now not buying this game due to the lack of pad support and I don't blame them.

Thats probably because there is no aim assist.

I use Pinnacle and it's great. I had to use it on MW2 (the last money IW gets) and got it pretty much spot on. These things are never as good as native support though so it will never feel quite right.

TBH I thought I would be buying Pinnacle for old PC games (originally got it for the old GTAs) not for games from developers in 2010. That's why I went for AvP instead of Bioshock 2

Take note though 2K put the pad back and I'll be there cash in hand.

    Wow....!!

I didn't realize so many people used game pads for their PCs. Personally I hate controllers...reason I will never own a console. ( I'd buy a console if it had mouse and KB support)

It should be in the game for those who want it though.....

I'm also amazed how many PCers still sit at a desk growing a hunchback...

I personally play sitting in custom recliner with wide flat ( adjustable and padded ) arms for N52te Speedpad and mouse..( Keyboard on lap for those keys I can't squeeze into my Speedpad setup)

My monitor ( 24") is mounted on a adjustable swing arm so I can play flat on my back if I wanted....and I have.

My chair also has hard points for racing/flight sim controls...including foot pedals.

    Gaming bliss....

But I say give them their controller support...it was in the first game.

i found out only after getting home last night at 130 am and installing the game. i never even bothered to check to see if it did or not. i figured the first one had it, why wont the second one? this is very frustrating. i feel like an idiot now for spending all the money on it, to just barely be able to play it, and play quite poorly at that with mouse and kb. i hope they patch. Im a parent and full time student, i dont really have much time to learn how to play video games all over again.

Their allowed to do that the only stipulation from MS is if you support gamepads you must support the 360 wired/wireless one by default (like Bioshock1 did so well!!).

Hey I just wanted to say that the argument of a comfort issue is all relative to an individual's state of mind. I play my PC on a 55" TV and I use a wireless keyboard and mouse along with it. I play in a giant double wide recliner, which means I can swivel the mouse around down at my hips, or I can put it up on the arm rest. I find it to be very comfortable. Personally I was one of the people that was selfishly happy that 2K took more time on making keyboard and mouse controls better(i.e. right now some of the buttons on my mouse do not register in Bioshock1, and the wheel can't be customized).

I will however agree though, that taking out controller support under the guise of making one format better is total BS. You trying to tell me that it would be impossible to start the game up in 2 alternate modes? One more dedicated to another format than another? I can wrap my head around how the two might interfere, but the people do make a very strong argument that this is a GamesForWindows and as such deserves the 360 controller support.

Again, I'm happy because a developer actually focused on what PC gamers really want, which is absolutely refreshing. On the other hand though I think this is going to hurt sales over-all and I don't want to see that either because I have fallen in love with 2K. Whatever you do, just don't ruin the goodness you did for Key+Mouse in an update just for controllers. I refuse to believe that it has to be one or the other, but if that's REALLY true, then screw the 360 support

I totally agree. Two profiles could easily be put in for this game. There is no excuse in leaving out pad support especially as the first game has it and it worked so well.

    I feel your pain.

I got burned on MW2 last year. Did not even occur to me that such a big title would not have such a simple thing as support for a pad so just bought it. BIG mistake!

Unfortunately the lesson there is that your best course of action (even with the nearly five year old standard windows controller) is always check the game before you buy. You shouldn't have to but sadly thanks to people like 2K, Bioware and IW it's required for pad gamers.

I wonder if someone in the community can patch for 2K like someone did with Mass Effect 1 for Bioware?

thank you man. how long did it take hem to patch Bioshock 1 after it came out? any chance of them doing a quick fix? im glad im not the only who feels this way, and imagine all the people out there who play with controllers, that arent on this site. that could be a huge number of people that are missing out on what i am sure is a great game. i dont really know yet since i dont feel like being frustrated yet. ill probably have a go at it soon. im hoping 2k fixes this soon. i mean we are on their forum, there are a lot of us here saying we want it. they can easily do it. lets hope they do, otherwise looks like i paid $90 for a cd, three posters, a book, and a record. and sadly i wont be buying the next bioshock, unless they get the controller back in there. (to be honest ill probably still the damn thing if they bundle some cool stuff with it) damn you 2K for making such a great game im willing to waste my money on it even though i cant even play it! damn you, you damn dirty developers!!! (im just playing, im not too mad.)

Well BS1 the support was already there I think monkeypunchbaby. Ironically once I started hooking my PC up to a HDTV BS1 was the game that made realise PC had really begun to cater to me as a gamer (even on PC I prefer a pad. Sorry K&M people I just prefer it).

I have heard 2K listen to consumers but if and when we see a patch depends on how many compain I suppose. I wouldn't hold your breath though, the decision was made right from the start to off the pad on PC apparently.

If you already paid for the game try pinnacle game profiler or Xpadder mentioned in this thread (Xpadder is free but I don't know how that compares to Ł11 pinnacle). They are almost as good as native support.

can get someone from 2K to comment on this? id take the pr lines of "we're looking into the options" or "we have no details to share at this time regarding this topic" or "the game was made this way on purpose, so suck it losers. you have a pc, play with m&kb and stop *****ing about it. if thats important to you buy a 360." personally i hope its not the last one.

btw the free xpadder doesnt work with windows 7. at least the ones i found dont.

a official statement would be nice.

maybe they patch the game. but i don´t believe it.
i have more hopes in a skilled community member that codes a fix.

in the meanwhile don´t let this thread disappear from the frontage of the forum!

keep complaining and posting, so maybe they here us!

but that change nothing in the fact, that i need a new game to play on my HDTV (with controller support).
I have the money i don´t spend on bioshock 2. Any good suggestions?

2K probably won't like me recommending other games on their game forums but I'm really enjoying the AvP demo at the mo (It seems a love or hate game from the demo though!), you could try that it's pad enabled and out next week.

there would be detailed game reviews about games with controller support. a community forum.. i will develpe this idea further

in the meantime i try to get the AVP demo. But that might be a problem in germany. Steam don´t let me download it

OK no more offtopic for me.

It is no longer 1996 and the Quake era WASD + Mouse Look do not define PC games or their interfaces.

How a player interacts with a game is a very important feature... if Windows gaming is important to developers, they should consider supporting modern input devices..

Bioshock 1 has *excellent* controls for both pad and mouse/keyboard. That includes button artwork, etc.

Bioshock 2 is regrettably a step backwards... and the whole bit about "concentrating on Keyboard/Mouse" control is BS. For one thing, the mouse support is twitchy/buggy... and exactly how much R & D was involved in the WASD control scheme? Revolutionary!

Whats most irritating is the fact, that its a GFWL Title. If i see this brand i expect controller support.

All newer Titles i play have built in support for the 360gamepad. Most of them with full GUI integration.

C'mon, seem like a lame excuse to push more of us to buying the game on console to not include 360-pad support.
Played BS both using mouse+tgb and then a couple of more times using my 360-controler.
Please give us the 360-pad support!

Edit: Playing Borderlands for PC using the 360-pad on my 46" HDTV, as it kicks my 24"LCD to kingdom come. :P

I just bought Bioshock 2 this morning without freaking reading. I had faith in 2k, wasn't even going to buy Bioshock 2 because it looked like the same sh1t as the first but then I actually started getting interested. Now after buying it I find it has no controller support?!? Whats wrong with you 2k? Couldn't you easily add the 360s controller code to the PC?

What people who say m+k dont understand is that we like to chill back and play on our 50 inch TVs-instead of some 19 inch small crap-, with a bad ass surround sound system. Why the hell are you going to have a 5.1 option and not let us use our 360 controllers...

plz plz plz patch it up.. Hope you enjoy my 50 bucks... Sad day for me. You guys make baby eywa cry.

I KNOW!!! I only buy pc will 360 support. I just played BS2 for about 30 mins i guess and its not as enjoyable bc i am having to focus so hard on the controls. Why do these games: Bioshock 1, Batman Arkham Asylum, Fallout 3, Gears of War, Left4Dead, Viva Pinata support it but Bioshock 2 doesn't!? I don't understand why it doesn't. I can't think of a reason to cut that out. Its not like we're asking for something that wasnt in the first one. This is something they know how to do but didnt.

I must say, I'm REALLY disappointed in the lack of controller support. I, like an increasing amount of PC gamers, play from the couch. I honestly can't believe that 360 controller support was left out of this game. I can't play with a mouse and keyboard from my setup, so I can't play the game I just paid hard-earned money for.

2K - Please add 360 controller support to this game.

We do - As you can imagine, it's a busy day for me.

I've already reported all your concerns and complaints to the dev team, but not supporting the controller was not a decision that we made lightly.

i just getting ready to say that. i was looking through the other sectiosn to see if anything has been said. again liek i said earlier. i sent 2KLIZ a message asking if they could comment on this at all and i have heard nothing back from her nor have i seen any official 2k person say anything.

**EDIT** While writing this one 2KLIZ replied to the the thread. So ignore this.

Thank you Liz for reading this and getting back to us. Any idea if yall will put it back in? is it being discussed? or is it basically, suck it, it is what it is?

    heres the link http://www.giantbomb.com/pc-games-wi...pport/92-2465/
im not sure how up to date or accurate it is. I know the games i own that support 360 controller are on there.

    thanks for the reply

i hope the dev team will ad the pad support

I thought that supporting the Xbox 360 controller was part of the Games for Windows branding requirements... now I'll have to meddle with the game files to add support to it...

It wouldn't have hurt to keep support for it, so the ones that have to use it would be happy, without making any difference for those that don't...

2KLIZ says they are taking our feedback and concerns and let the teams know. The technical issues page is going crazy. So i assume when they fix that stuff they will fix our controller support. Or fix the controller first so we can play and let them know of anymore problems. I've only played it for like 30 mins bc of this. I did get two achievements though! Daddy's Home, and Distance Hacker

    Contorller Support??

I too have not played this as long as I had hoped due to the lack of controller support. This game would have been flawless!!! IF it had 360 controller support like its previous game. Please, for the love of God.. just ENABLE 360 CONTROLLERS FOR PC!!! Everyone wants it! There's no reason to take it out! If someone would rather use a controller than have good FPS aiming, then fine! That's what i always do! And i enjoy the game more! Like left4dead.. yeah.. its dumb to use a controller! But its sooo much more comfortable! Just add it in 2K.. don't be lazy please. Bioshock is my favorite series at the moment and i don't want you to ruin that for me...

I registered on this website just so that I can sign this petition to bring back 360 controller support!

I sit in front of a computer all day at work. I'm hunched over a keyboard and mouse and am forced to sit in a certain position for 8-10 hours every day. As a result, I have some serious shoulder and back issues. Coming home and playing games in that same position is definitely not an option for me. I look forward to coming home and firing up my 58" HDTV and playing Bioshock 1. I've played the game 7 times all the way through. Needless to say, I'm excited about Bioshock 2.

However, while looking over the game prior to purchase, I didn't see any information about 360 controller support. That is why I came to these forums to verify.

Bottom line: You won't be getting my $50 until 360 controller support has been addressed. My body just can't handle that static, uncomfortable position after being forced into that all day at work. The 360 controller makes it possible for me to play games in a more natural position.

DEVELOPERS: Please reconsider supporting the 360 controller.
