Widescreen fix for the demo .... work in progress ...

Racer_S and the widescreengamingforum.com bring you this fix ...
It is for the demo only ...
One for the Full version to follow as soon as we can sort it ...
This of course won't work on the 360 ...

Amazing. Thanks for the hard work guys, so now even if they won't fix it won't matter!

Gonna go re-hook up my widescreen LCD and test the demo later to check it works ok.

    thanks again.

looks like a fix will be out for the PC version before 2k has anything to do with it. That's cool though, they can spend the time fixing the 360 version then.

I have no fear or doubt 2k, will handle this. Time to go back to killing splicers!

    Works great!!

I found these settings work the best for me:
    Width FOV: 0.8
    Height FOV: 0.7

I don't know if this is the best settings for 16:9, but at least the game looks alot better!

Thank you, makers of this great tool!

It works in XP x64, I think it wasn't the 64bits that caused it not to work in Vista but the required driver signing. Disable it with and it should work fine.

    Superb - thanks!

It works in XP x64. Disable driver signing in Vista x64 and it should work as well. The easiest way (and only way after the recent hotfixes) is to reboot to F8 menu like you are going to safe mode, and select the boot w/o driver signing option. I would try it myself but i refuse to install vista until they fix my refresh rates.

Any idea what a good 16:9 setting might be?

Just go the section I was taking the screens. Don't touch the mouse. And set res to a 4:3 res. Take screenshot with fraps. And then set to widescreen and start modifying using the hack. Take screen when you feel its accurate. Compare to 4:3 shot you took with fraps. And finetune from there. My first attempt got a fat head, 2nd attempt lost vertical. 3rd one was about right.

I fire it up in 4:3 ... put bits of tape at key points on the screen ... then fire it up in TripleHead or widecreen and match up the tape with the graphics ...
Saves the messing with the screenshots ...

Who has tried this fix with Vista (32 bit)? I've only seen one guy mention it yet, and he said it did NOT work with Vista.

Try it yourself. It's easy to use. Just read the readme. Just fire up the exe and bash numpad :P

great work, but the community shouldn't have to be cleaning things up like this. My preorder is still canceled until they officially fix it. We can't let companies get away with acting like EA anymore.

Not getting the retail game 'till tomorrow mate, and I don't have the demo either. Just wanted to know what other Vista users concluded.

Vista 32 here, no functionality whatever its set to with the demo, I presume its yet another of Vista's nanny issues.

At least I'm not the only one who can't get it to work! I must have watched the intro 50 times now trying every setting I can!
